A: Yandex is one of Europe's largest internet companies and the leading search provider in Russia with over 60% of the local search market and a monthly user audience of over 90 million worldwide. The range of Yandex’s products extends well beyond search to include news, maps, email, comparative shopping, online payments, location-based advertising and many others. Yandex offers the most relevant, locally tailored experience on all digital platforms and devices. Yandex also operates in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Turkey.

A: Historically, "Yandex" is an acronym for "Yet Another indexer". The users suggested various versions of the word's etymology. One of the exotic versions is that "Yan" syllable comes from the name of the white, "sunny" side of the Ying-Yang sign.
